We hit the ground running in LA, picking up our rental car and heading straight to the Porsche Experience Center for an afternoon that set the tone for the whole trip. Lunch at Restaurant 917 kicked things off in style—everything was delicious, right down to the Porsche 911-shaped butter (yes, we absolutely bought the molds to make ice cubes at home). While Kalob and Ryan took to the track—Kalob behind the wheel of a Taycan Turbo and 911 Turbo, Ryan in a 911 Carrera GTS—Lindsey, LoLo, and I watched from the balcony, cheering them on as they zipped through drills and corners. From there we made our way up to Venice Beach, checked into our lovely Airbnb, and let the afternoon unwind over great wine and tacos delivered from local favorite Taco por Favor.
Morning two started with coffee from Groundwork Coffee Co. before a walk to brunch at Gjusta—an incredible market and brunch spot overflowing with pastries, sandwiches, and delicious bites, all enjoyed outside amongst lush plants and natural scenery. We strolled the Venice Canals afterward, marveling at what a cool place it would be to actually live, before popping into Great White for a quick glass of bubbles. The Mosaic Tile House tour that followed was a highlight—an explosion of color, artistry, and pure creative vision that had us all speechless. While the boys and LoLo took a well-earned rest, Lindsey and I squeezed in some shopping at the General Store, Zinque, and the charming little wine shop Good Riddance. The evening wrapped up with a stroll down Abbott Kinney and dinner at Felix—the perfect end to a perfectly packed day.
Our last morning brought a wonderful al fresco brunch at Superbo before we made one final pilgrimage to Venice Beach to walk the boardwalk, watch the skateboarders, and soak up every last moment of LA before heading to the airport. We crammed a lot in—and we'd do it all again without hesitation.
