When Mystery Meets Magic
There's something deliciously thrilling about receiving a text just 24 hours before an event, finally revealing the secret location: Wild Mountain Ranch, an hour east of Portland along the Columbia River Gorge. We hired a driver for the evening, knowing that a night hosted by Secret Supper and Patrón would involve more than a few sips worth savoring.
The winding drive along the gorge became part of the experience, but nothing prepared us for our arrival. Wild Mountain Ranch took our collective breath away—sweeping mountain vistas, charming cabins, and one impossibly long table adorned with wildflowers, set for about 50 soon-to-be friends.
After welcome cocktails and nibbles, we settled in for an exquisite celebration of Oregon itself. The local chef had foraged herbs and vegetables just hours before, crafting a menu that felt like a love letter to the region. Each course arrived paired with a thoughtfully crafted Patrón cocktail, flavors building as the sun painted the sky in evening hues.
On our drive back to the city, we fell into our tradition—the way we end all memorable meals together. We shared our favorite bite of the night, the most surprising flavor, and debated what we'd order again. It's our ritual for holding onto the magic just a little longer.
Some evenings feed the body, others feed the soul. This night at Wild Mountain Ranch managed to do both, reminding us why we seek out these secret suppers—for the mystery, the community, and those perfect moments when everything comes together under an Oregon sky.
