Mystical Mountain Moments
Our Breckenridge adventure began with an evening flight, my first-ever Chick-fil-A stop, and a dark, misty drive through rain and fog that made the mountains feel mysterious and remote. We fell into bed exhausted, but woke refreshed and ready for the weekend ahead.
My family was already settled in, and we gathered for a leisurely breakfast, buzzing with plans and anticipation. We surprised my sister with decorations and thoughtful gifts to welcome her into her 40s, and she delighted us right back with goodie boxes packed with treats for everyone.
Our first adventure took us land-hunting through the mountains as my sister dreams of a mountain move. The landscape was stunning—golden aspens glowing against the evergreens. After lunch, the women headed to downtown Frisco, a charming main street lined with inviting shops and cafes. The day melted into evening with hot tub soaks under the mountain sky and an exceptional dinner at Hearthstone.
Sunday morning brought the season's first snow flurries. My sister, dad, and I bundled up and headed to Danielle's Delights food truck for hot coffee and breakfast—the grilled cheese waffle and pancake bites were perfection. Fueled up, we trekked through the softly falling snow to visit the famous wooden Troll, then wandered downtown Breckenridge's festive streets. Lunch at Rita's Tacos hit the spot, and we couldn't resist giant cookies from Mountain Top Cookies. That evening, my sister's good friend and her husband joined us for more hot tub time and a spread of delicious pizzas from Tin Plate.
Monday was spa day. While the boys stayed back to work, watch football, and relax, the women indulged in facials, massages, and saunas, followed by a satisfying lunch at the hotel Tavern. Back at the house, we soaked in the hot tub one more time, sharing stories and laughter as the mountains darkened around us. Our final dinner at Aurum was the perfect ending—elegant and memorable.
On our last morning, we drove to Castle Pines to help my sister unpack before catching our flight home. What an incredible trip—filled with cozy mornings, mountain air, warm water under cold skies, and moments that will stay with us for years to come.
