Pull the Squeegee, Make Some Magic
My husband and I recently took a screen printing class at a local art studio called Visual Philosophy, and it was such a rewarding experience. The class was small and intimate, which made it easy to ask questions and get hands-on guidance. We started by learning about the materials and tools involved in the screen printing process, and then moved into creating our own digital artwork to be transferred onto screens. It was fascinating to see how our ideas translated from the screen to a physical medium, and the instructors did a great job of walking us through each step—from preparing the screens to exposing them with our designs.
Once our screens were ready, we got to mix our own custom paint colors and pull our first prints. Seeing our designs come to life on paper was incredibly satisfying. The whole experience was both enlightening and creatively energizing. It reignited my love for printmaking and reminded me how much I enjoy the tactile, hands-on aspect of creating art. I left the class feeling inspired and excited to get back into using my own equipment at home to experiment and make new pieces.
